He is also a Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the Robert R. McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science at Northwestern University. In addition to his research and clinical surgery practice, Dr Caprini has had a lifelong research and clinical interest in coagulation and thrombosis. He has actively directed a specialized coagulation research laboratory for 25 years, as well as a peripheral vascular laboratory for 30 years. He has authored nearly 300 publications and received more than 100 research and teaching grants. Dr Caprini is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of numerous national and international professional societies, including the American Society of Hematology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the Society of Vascular Surgery, and the International Society on Thrombosis and Hematology. He was also a founding member of the International Surgical Thrombosis Forum, and a past chairman of the American Venous Forum’s Committee on Issues, as well as a councilor to its Board of Directors. He is currently Treasurer of the American Venous Forum and on the Board of Directors of the American College of Phlebology. In addition to serving on the editorial boards of American Surgeon, Venous Digest, and Phlebologie, Dr Caprini is Guest Editor of Advances in Hemostasis/Thrombosis, and a reviewer for many other journals, including Chest, Journal of Blood Coagulation and Fibrinolysis, Journal of Vascular Surgery, and Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis. | |||||
